Is there a way to charge for listings

Postby smithlev » Mon Aug 18, 2008 3:20 am

I'm looking at setting up an auto classifieds site and was wondering if there was a way to charge for listings like some of the other (paid for)* packages out there?

I think that this would be a huge feature.

Maybe Brandon should think about adding this option and then charging a fee for the different version. Sure sounds unfair to me that you would make money on the listings and not pay him for the hard work that he has done to enable this to even happen...

Agreed, and this is one user that would pay for that feature.

I would be more than happy to pay a good sum of money for a version that would charge for listings

This is something I will be looking into seriously in the near future I will first need to bring the core into a state where drop in mods can be handled, so possibly within 3 months.

I wanted to update everyone on the status of this thread. I have begun the creation of a payments module. this will be mostly a drop in mod but will need some edits of the site. the idea is I am going to charge for this mod. the cost is going to be about $89.95 USD. this price will include Free installation if needed and free upgrades for as long as I release them.

i will also be releasing some other pay only mods with the same deal for free install and updates for life. The prices and list of mods are yet to be posted but keep an eye out in the announcements section.
Best Regards,
Brandon

This would be awesome.

Another/an additional option could be to create a classified mod for something like cubecart. Someone else has already done the hard part of checkouts and stuff.
There are a few classified mods for joomla which were a nightmare to get working as I wanted but there are none for cubecart which already has a good commercial mod community and is pretty easy to work with, even for a noob like myself.
